අපි හැදෙනවද? රට හදනවද? “Declinism” and the Future of Sri Lanka

Share

Welcome to our exploration of the concept of “declinism” which is linked to the tendency to see the past in an overly positive light and to view the present or future in an overly negative light, leading us to believe that things are worse than they used to be.

We begin by exploring Sri Lanka’s history, tracing the journey from the age of King Vijaya to the modern day. We then discuss how the international political landscape developed over the years and how perceptions of decline have shaped the Sri Lankan community over the centuries. We also discuss the country’s economic evolution, political revolutions, and significant social changes across different eras to assess whether the current period in history is better or worse off! Additionally, we explore the rise of human values in the world and how these values have become increasingly prominent over time.

Finally we look at recent political developments and to place ourselves in the realistic situation that we should be and opposed to being demotivated and feeling negative about our futures!
